Talking Trees – Alice Lake
Fall is near and the medicines are out. We invite you join us on a guided walk in Squamish, Alice Lake with Indigenous Women Knowledge Keepers as they share stories of the land, the protocols and teachings of reciprocity and respect. Learn as we identify and explore the plants and trees that are used for harvesting medicine, food and technology. Selective harvests will be demonstrated. Each participant will take home a sample of tea that you gather yourself. Squamish, rich with food and medicine, derived from ancient forest gardens, the homeland of the Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish) ulmixw have been stewarded and cultivated by our peoples’ for thousands of years. This is a tour program on how our people utilize the land for food, medicine and technology.
This walk is a leisure to medium paced walk with some hills along the way. We will rest when needed. Paced to take in nature, enjoy one another’s company, enjoy some indigenous tea, and a nutritious lunch together.

What to bring: Dress for the weather. Water resistant jackets, shells, toques or hats. Shoes with good traction.
