Title:  Talaysay's Talking Trees – Student Program (K to Grade 12 Only)

Welcome to our Talaysay  TALKING TREES PROGRAM.  Type of Program:  Student Indigenous Walking Tour - Nature

Tour Description:  This is a walking tour in Stanley Park. Your Talaysay guides-instructor will take you on a forest walk and teach the rich stories and history of the land while you learn how the trees and plants are used by indigenous people for food, medicine and technology.  Learn to identify a variety of indigenous plants and tree species  so when you venture into the forest you too will know what is edible, medicinal and adaptable for technology.   Emphasis on Indigenous Ways of Knowing, Sustainable Practices and Ecology and good stories. 

Date of Tour:  Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday

Scheduled Start Time:  10:20 am   End Time:  11:50 am    Duration:  1.5 hrs

Custom Times Available when planned in advance.  We can do a program no later than 10:30 am for our morning class.  We can also do a 9:30 am start time.  This allows us to schedule afternoon sessions.  We can do afternoon programs as late as 1:30 pm.

Includes:  Guide-Ambassador-Instructor.  Sometimes we have a co-guide, a trainer and or a trainee. The tour is rich with Indigenous stories and interpretation.  Students have the opportunity to discuss and ask questions during the tour and or in the last 15 minutes of the tour.  

Meeting Location:  Bus Loop (in approximation to the Stanley Park Pavilion and the Stanley Park Mini Train) - Stanley Park.

We ask our guests to provide yourself enough time to park and locate your guide.  We recommend arrive 15 minutes prior to the tour as all of our scheduled tours start promptly. 

Our guide will be ready 15 minutes prior to the tour start waiting at the Gazebo right in the bus loop.

What to bring:  A water bottle, dress for the weather.  Layered clothing and dress for the weather.  Good walking shoes with traction. 

Talaysay Policies:  All tours start on time.  If guests are late and miss the tour there are no reimbursement.  Based on availability, we will work to schedule you on another date and time.  Are group tours are required to provide 10 days notice to cancel to receive partial reimbursement of 80%.  20% is held for administration.  Any tours cancelled after 10 days will not be reimbursed. 

Student Rate with 20 or more participants:  $22.00 pp plus gst (This Rate is for Local Schools: K to 12 Students Only).

With 20+ students, 2 teachers or adult volunteers are complimentary.  If there are less than 20 students, the base rate remains $440 plus gst $22.00.  Total:  $462.00
