Dear Teacher - Administrator
Our company Talaysay Tours is a tour company that works with internation visitors, corporations and with near 50 schools throughout the Lower Mainland, both public and private. Candace and Larry, the co-owners, are Shíshálh and Sḵwx̱wú7mesh and live on the North Shore. Candace is a teacher and anthropologist.
Date of Operation: February 15th to October 30th 2021-2022
Our tours and programs are in the outdoors with social distancing practices. Our virtual on-line tours, via zoom, can accommodate larger groups. For our virtual tours, our guides work onsite in Stanley Park and in the surrounding forests on the North Shore and on the Sunshine Coast. The rates of the virtual tours are the same rate as we use an experienced camera person in addition to the guide to provide professional visual footage for the learner.
Book in Advance: We will accommodate a select amount of school tours to our operational calendar. To secure your date and time is in your best interest. Confirmation of your tour can be acquired via paying online.
Covid Safety Practices:
Many of our Indigenous guides, instructors and ambassadors live within our Indigenous communities and we live communally in multi-generational homes with our children and elders. We are a sensitive population and therefore we adhere to all covid safety policies which includes wearing following the current best practices and requirements thus maintaining the 2 meter safe distance and washing our hands frequently. If a staff member is experiencing cold symptoms and or covid symptoms they will remove themselves from the tour schedule for your safety. We ask our guests to do the same. We would be happy to have you join us at a later date.
The rates we provide are 65 to 70% discounted from our retail rates. These rates of $20 per student are based on 20 or more students. We can not offer any of these programs at this rate unless there are 20 students or more. The base rate is $20 per student x 20 students/staff or $400 per base group. All tours will have gst taxes added.
What would would like you to know: We are not government funded. We are an independent indigenous company who pays our liability insurance to operate and all of our expenses, including administration and management, marketing, staff training, staff contracts, equipment and transportation, parking fees. We appreciate that you are a school with a limited budget. We can not reduce the rates any further from our current student rates.
