Tour Title:  Spoken Treasures - Indigenous Walking Tour - Stanley Park

Tour Description:  Explore the rich history of Stanley Park and Vancouver through Indigenous eyes.  On this tour you will join an Indigenous Ambassador-Guide along the Stanley Park seawall, for an enriched, leisurely, 1.1 km, historical and cultural walk. Included is the indigenous ecological-cultural perspective of the Salish Sea and how it has sustained our people. Many of these stories and historical accounts remain in our indigenous oral traditional, yet to be in history books, of the indigenous and settler history of the development of Vancouver.  Why not learn and explore history and local lore directly from the descendants of the Indigenous peoples who have lived here for millennia and discover the how we continue to live today with our rich cultural customs and practices.   Spoken Treasures is completed at the renowned Stanley Park Totem Poles where the guided tour will conclude with the stories of the totem poles and the diversity and richness of the Indigenous peoples, throughout the Pacific Northwest, who carved them.  Stories of kalkalath, Wild Women of the Mountains, make it fun for all guests.

What to wear/bring: good walking shoes, an umbrella and rain resistant clothing if raining, sun glasses, hats and sunscreen if sunny. Wear layers with the changing seasons.

Who we are:  All of our guides are indigenous members of the local tribes of this area.  Talaysay Tours, owned by Candace and Larry Campo, Shíshálh (Sechelt) and Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish) First Nation, offer you an enriched cultural outdoor experience.
